Dinosaurs and Dragons

The word Dinosaur was invented by Sir Richard Owen in 1841. Before that time they were known as dragons. There are endless stories about dragons all over the world. After all life left the Ark after the flood, many of it's inhabitants may have moved on, died from the new environment, or possibly had been hunted.

There are thousands of stories about dinosaurs all over the world. Dragons were mentioned in the bible 35 times. As the population of the world grew, the population of the dragons went down. Probably because noone would want to live near a dragon. It's shown today when people populate an area, the population of animals goes away. Everywhere you see towns, there was once bears, tigers, lions, ect.

There's many reasons people killed dragons. For meat (that's a lot of hamburgers). They were a menace (people fear that which is larger or stronger). It would make a person a hero to kill one (typical village hero story). To prove man is superior (what's new?). To have a competition for land. There is even many ancient recipes found that call for dragon bones to be grounded up in it.

There are countless stories of dragon slaying. Gilgamesh slew a dragon. One chinese legend tells of a famous Chinese man named Yu. After the great flood Yu build channels to drain the water to the sea to make the land livable again. The story states "Many snakes and dragons were driven from the marshlands when Yu created the new farmlands." Marduk, the chief god of Babylon was pictured with a dragon.

In the Catholic Bible, Daniel wrote "And there was a great dragon in that place and the Babylonians worshipped him. And the king said to Daniel: Behold thou canst not say now that this is not a living god: adore him therefore. And Daniel said: I adore the Lord my God: for he is the living God: but that is no living god. But give me leave, o king, and I will kill this dragon without sword or club. And the king said, I give thee leave. Then Daniel took pitch, and fat, and hair, and boiled them together: and he made lumps, and put them into the dragon's mouth, and the dragon burst assunder."

When Babylon was found buried under sand, the walls were very well preserved. Dragons and Lions were found carved all over the walls. In 326 BC, Alexander the Great reported his soldiers were scared by 'the great dragons that lived in caves'. Roman mosaic shows two large necked dragons in 2nd century AD. St. George was famous for slaying dragons in 275 AD. Beowulf slew many dragons and died while fighting a winged dragon in 583 AD.

600 BC (est) Babylonian cylinder has a man ripping the arm off a dragon carved on it. A slate palette from Heirakonpolis showing the triumph of king Nar-mer (first pharoah of a united Egypt) had 2 long necked dragons carved on it. A 12th century BC Egypt hippo tusk found in tomb of Inherka has a long necked creature carved in it. 900 AD an Irish writer told of an animal with iron nails on it's tail, head similar to a horse, thick legs, and strong claws (sounds like a stegosaurus).

Marco Polo lived in China for 17 years around 1271 AD. and reported hat emporer raised dragons to pull his chariots in parades. In 1611 the emperor appointed the post of a "Royal Dragon Feeder." Books even tell of Chinese families raising dragons to use their blood for medicines and highly prizing their eggs.

Indian pictograph in Havasupai canyon in Grand Canyon shows dinosaurs. In 1925, Discoveries Relating to Prehistory Man by the Doheny Scientific Expedition in the Hava Supai Canon stated, "The fact that some prehistory man made a pictograph of a dinosaur on the walls of this canyon upsets completely all of our theories regarding the antiquity of man. Facts are stubborn and immutable things. If theories do not square with the facts then the theories must change, the facts remain." "About a year ago, a photograph of the dinosaur was shown to a scientist of national repute, who was specializing in dinosaurs. He said, 'it is not a dinosaur, it is impossible, because we know that dinosaurs were extinct 12 million years before man appeared on earth.'" Rather than fix the facts, they discredit it because it doesn't fit their theories (religion).
